-------- A MESSAGE FROM SUPERVISOR CHRIS KOETZLE -----------------------------
.... Glenville's Response to the Coronavirus
March 13, 2020
Dear Resident:
Over the past few days, I have received inquiries as to the town’s plans
regarding our response to the coronavirus (COVID-19). First and foremost,
the Town of Glenville is committed to maintaining a safe environment for our
employees, volunteers and residents. You should know that we are have been
and are closely monitoring the emergence of the virus and we are prepared to
take necessary action to help prevent its possible spread.
At this point, based on all information that we currently have, *Town Hall*
is open for business and will remain so with all services continuing
uninterrupted. We are, however, asking our residents to limit their visits
to the building and to try to conduct as much business as possible remotely
– either over the phone, through e-mail or on-line. Although there are
many services that we provide at Town Hall, and some do require you to be
physically present, there are still many things we can do via phone, e-mail
or US mail. Please visit our web page or call us directly for more
information on how to conduct these services remotely.
At this point, all committee, board, and other public meetings are scheduled
uninterrupted and our local town court will also remain open as scheduled.
We are asking people who otherwise may wish to engage in the public meeting
to consider remaining at home and to instead send in comments on the relevant
issue(s). Written comments can be sent to me at
ckoetzle at townofglenville.org [1] and I will read all comments into the record
at the meeting. /I want to be clear: public meetings will remain open to
the public and you are free and welcome to attend./ Residents can view all
Town Board meetings on our Youtube channel.
After strong consideration, we have decided to close the *Glenville Senior
Center* effective Friday, March 13th at 6 PM through Monday, March 30th.
All activity at the center will be suspended. We know that this will
impact people who depend on certain services and we are currently working to
meet those needs without opening the building to the general public.
*The Town Parks* will remain open to all activity, including all sporting
leagues and pavilion rentals. All town-planned public events will remain as
scheduled until further notice.
*Police, Highway and Public Works Department *will continue to operate as
normal. We have asked our employees to take safety precautions when dealing
with the public. These include maintaining a six-foot buffer between them
and others, avoiding unnecessary contact such as shaking hands, and to
disinfect all commonly touched surfaces often. We ask for your cooperation in
maintaining these protocols.
Finally, we have taken more aggressive steps disinfect and better clean our
facilities. Employees have been asked to help in this effort by using
cleaning sprays and wipes to disinfect the door handles, counter tops, and
keyboards. We are also working our cleaning service to ensure that they are
taking all necessary action to maintain a cleaner environment. We will also
begin a sanitizing cleanse of our publicly-accessed facilities which
guarantees that 99% of all germs will be killed.
I want to ensure all residents that we are taking this pandemic seriously and
continue to monitor the situation. We will respond as events necessitate
and we will continue to communicate to you as things change. *Again, our
priority remains the safety and wellbeing of our employees, volunteers, and
residents.* I appreciate your cooperation during this time and look forward
to our continued work together on behalf of this great town.
All the best,
Christopher A. Koetzle
Supervisor, Town of Glenville
