[Chiefs] Update on COVID-19

Chiefs, 
I know that a lot of fire departments have put out their own guidance on drills and training. As you know all NYS Fire Training has been postponed. In addition the Schenectady County EMO has recommended that fire departments postpone any training or drills you have planned for this week. This comes from a recommendation from DOH to limit gatherings to 10 people or less. 
One thing I would like to add. I know that to some people this seems like there is an overreaction going on in this country. But I saw a school superintendent write something I want to share. 
“In the end, it will be impossible to know if we overreacted or did too much, but it will be QUITE apparent if we under reacted or did too little.”

Here is some updated information on COVID-19.If you need supplies related to this please try to get them through your normal route. If you are having trouble getting you can put a request in through the Emergency Management Office. There is no guarantee that we can get the items you request. Currently Ellis hospital is overwhelmed with people wanting to be checked. If you have a respiratory type call please follow the directions put out by NYS DOH last month and place a mask on the patient. You will also be informed from dispatch if there is a suspected respiratory issue. If you believe you have a patient with COVID-19, inform dispatch and they will contact the Health Department. Also please send me a message with details and I will pass it on to the Emergency Management Office. PLEASE use judgement on if it is an potential case or not.
