Dear Emergency Managers and other partners,
An upper level disturbance tracking across the region will trigger isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms today. A few thunderstorms may produce damaging wind gusts and large hail. The Storm Prediction Center has placed most of eastern New York and adjacent western New England within a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe thunderstorms. There is a small area of southeast Windham County in southern Vermont that is within a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe thunderstorms, where coverage of severe thunderstorms might be a bit higher.

Please refer to the attached one-pager briefing for more details.

There is also another marginal to slight risk of severe thunderstorms on Wednesday along and south of I-90 to southern Vermont but the area of risk and the timing of thunderstorms is highly uncertain at this time. This potential for severe thunderstorms on Wednesday will be addressed once the threat for today ends, and confidence increases on the area of threat and the timing for Wednesday.
