Chief Edward Horton East Glenville Volunteer Service Scholarship

The East Glenville Fire Company offers a one-year, non-recurring, scholarship valued up to $1000.  The Chief Ed Horton Volunteer Scholarship is in honor of Chief Horton’s 60 years of active service with the East Glenville Volunteer Fire Department (EGFD).  Chief Horton was a lifetime resident of the East Glenville area, and is the first known EGFD graduate (1942) of the BH-BL school system.  Chief Horton’s philosophy on volunteering was “Sign up, show up, and be ready to do something”.  Taking action based on Chief Horton’s philosophy is essential to the intended helpfulness and success of any volunteer’s work.
